SHare Our Strength's Use of Social Media

As Share Our Strength works to end childhood hunger in America, it’s critical that the organization find innovative ways to build awareness and reach new audiences.  Many people find it hard to believe that children are hungry in America, let alone that 1 in 6 kids face hunger.   So, Share Our Strength asked its friends at iStrategy Labs to create a video that uses text and simple images to make those numbers come alive and make an emotional connection to the issue of childhood hunger.

The plan was to disseminate this exclusively through social media, using Share Our Strength’s organizational Twitter account, sharestrength (4K+ followers) and Facebook fan page (with ~3K fans), as well as its personal Twitter and Facebook accounts.  The initial feedback from the video was very positive and so Share Our Strength shared it with its entire network of chefs, volunteers, corporate partners and donors via email.

Please consider sharing it with your network via Facebook / Twitter / email by pasting this link http://www.strength.org/numbers into your status update on Facebook, email it to friends, or send a tweet: “Child hunger is a real problem in the US, but there’s strength in numbers.
