PBS Documentary Showcases Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Collaborative Participant, Beech Acres Parenting Center
PBS ran a documentary in late April featuring Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Collaborative participant Beech Acres Parenting Center. The documentary "A Cry for Help" highlighted the organization’s innovative Parent Child Interactive Therapy, with comments from CEO, Jim Mason.

"A Cry for Help" followed the struggles some adolescents have with mental illness through interviews with troubled teens, including a straight-A student who hid her battle with depression from her parents until her freshman year of college. Also featured were the efforts of two local high schools to help at-risk teens, and steps some mental health experts are taking to help families. This was an opportunity for Beech Acres to showcase to a national audience the value of being proactive and positive as a parent. Click below to watch the documentary.

Ford's Theatre Society Museum Re-Opens
After an 11-month renovation period, Ford’s Theatre Society and the National Park Service have re-opened the Ford’s Theatre museum featuring enhanced accessibility and exhibits showcasing Lincoln’s life in Washington, DC. Located below the newly restored Ford’s Theatre (511 10th Street NW), the Museum uses 21st-century technology to transport visitors to 19th-century Washington. The museum’s remarkable collection of historic artifacts are supplemented with a variety of narrative devices—environmental recreations, videos and three-dimensional figures, bringing to light Abraham Lincoln’s presidency and life in Washington, D.C.

According to Paul Tetreault, the Director of the Ford’s Theatre Society, “The new Ford’s Theatre Museum is designed to engage and educate visitors about Abraham Lincoln’s time in Washington—from his arrival by train to the night of his tragic assassination at Ford’s Theatre. Our hope is that by visiting the Museum and Theatre visitors will uncover the extraordinary legacy that makes Lincoln a leader for the ages.” To read more about the renovation, see the July 15th press release.

Autism Treatment Center Achieves Implementation Milestone
Congratulations to the Autism Treatment Center, a participant in the first North Texas Collaborative, on receiving its facility Medicaid number for the Autism Treatment Center Rehabilitation Agency (ATCRA), which was opened in 2008. This is a critical milestone in the implementation of the business plan produced during the Collaborative – allowing them to serve this new population which is both large in size and in great need of services. ATCRA provides new outpatient services including occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), speech therapy (ST), and diagnostics.  ATCRA is first expanding services for existing ATC consumers and will then grow to serve children and adults with autism throughout North Texas.  Over time, income from ATCRA will be returned to ATC to support its mission to expand its reach to serve and support more children and adults with autism including families who are not able to access or pay for much needed autism services and supports.
